How do you know that you are being reimbursed efficiently and completely?
As a physician you work hard to provide convenient and quality care to your patients. Then you rely on other individuals to ensure that you are properly compensated for those services.
There are key performance measures that put you in control of your money and provide confidence that you are receiving all collectable dollars.

Aging buckets provide insight into the volume of receivables that remain unpaid longer than the desired days in AR metric of 30 days. The older the claim the difficulty of collecting increases and the probability of collecting decreases.

Target: 20% or less of total outstanding receivables

Tips to reduce the likelihood of your claims aging out longer than 90 days:
-
Focus improvement efforts on Financial Clearance, Coding Accuracy and Submitting Clean Claims
-
Have payment posters address payer correspondence and work denials while posting their payment batches
-
Prioritize AR follow-up activity on those claims between 45 day and 60 days
-
Accounts that have been worked more than 2 times should be reviewed by management to provide direction and final arrangement.
